SO, You need a Headshot?

Some Tips to Get You Ready.

  1. Communicate your requirements: If you are required by your company or organization to get a headshot, inquire with them to see if they certain requirements or level of dress or a shirt with a logo. If they request a specific backdrop color or image specs, please send this information to me prior to your session.
  2. Manage your time: Keep your stress level low, don't rush to your appointment. Do plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early. Give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to be afterward.
  3. Self-care: Get a good night's rest the day before your sessions and make sure you are well hydrated. Moisturize your skin if it tends to be dry.
  4. Make-up: Keep make-up natural. Do bring lip balm or lipstick to the session to avoid dry lips.
  5. Clothing: Select clothes that fit well and make you feel good. Professional images help establish your professional identity; therefore, clothing choices should be deliberate and send the message that you take your work seriously, are reliable, credible and knowledgeable. In regard to level of dress, aim for at least business casual, leaving t-shirts and fleece pullovers at home. Avoid shirts with graphics and outfits that looks seasonal. Instead, choose something that is more of a timeless staple. Lean toward solid colors avoiding busy patterns or strips. Take time to press out wrinkles. Remove loose threads, lint, hair clippings, or pet hair. Clean eyeglass lenses so that they are free of smudges. Prepare as if you were going to a job interview.
  6. Jewelry: Accessories can really bring a look together. Keep jewelry simple and avoid large pieces that might distract from your face unless it is compliments the look you are trying to achieve.
